CELEBRATION OF LIFE: Twilight services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2014 at the Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong with Bro. Phil Boyd officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service per Carl’s request.

Carl D. Smith 47, of Oblong, Illinois passed away at 5:50 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at his home in Oblong.

Born on December 29, 1966 in Hammond, Indiana, Carl was the son of Frederick E. Smith and Jennie L. (Burr) Smith.  On August 31, 2013 he married Sondra Broady and she survives.

At the present time, Carl was employed as a millright with Custom Grain Systems in Clairmont, IL. Previously he was employed at ATS ~ Auto Parts Manufacturer in Lawrenceville as a fork lift operator for 9 1/2 years and Rowe Manufacturing in Martinsville, IL for 4 years as a laborer.  Carl enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and Yen his constant companion; working on his “on going” project of remodeling his man cave.  Carl collected wolfs and Harley Davidson memorabilia.

Survivors include his wife, his step-son Christian Alumbaugh, Robinson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Fred and Tabatha Smith, Jr., Robinson; Eddie Smith and partner Ken Davis, Marshall, IL.; Steve Smith, Oblong, IL.; brother-in-law Leslie Broady, Jr., Robinson; sisters and brothers-in-law Martha and Robert Stephens, Oblong and Sindy and James Mayhew, Robinson; his faithful dog, Yen, special niece and nephew Becky Stephens and Steve Smith, several nieces, nephews, friends, bros., aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents.

The family also requests casual dress for the celebration of life services.
